Celldweller is an interesting amalgam of electronica and metal. Not that it's never been done before but Klayton (just Klayton) has done a fine job of melding the two genres together. Klayton takes on artist, performer, producer, songwriter, programmer and re-mixer duties. Sounds like a certain Trent that I have heard of. In fact, there are many similarities between Nine Inch Nails and Celldweller. I also think that there are similarities in vocal styles between Klayton and Maynard from Tool. He has experience in the field with his former band Circle of Dust, releasing 3 albums with that group. Now on his own, Celldweller is able to exactly where he wants and make the music that most suits him. Celldweller is a fantastic debut album. It's dynamic characteristics are usually only seen on major label releases. There are super heavy tracks like the fast paced "Own Little World" and there are more mellow tracks like "Under My Feet", which comes off like a radio ready track. I could see any number of these tracks getting mainstream play but because he is lacking the major label dollars there will be only underground fans here. Seek out Celldweller if you have any interest in this style of music. You won't be disappointed.
