Hector Zazou who is probably more famous for his work with other artists such as Bjork, Dead Can Dance, and John Cale to name a few has basically stuck to doing more traditional or spiritual music on his own. 12 (Las Vegas is Cursed) is his opportunity to reach out into realms that he has never been before and with the help of the voice of Sandy Dillon he does a fine job. This album is completely spooky and dark. The brilliance of Zazou really shines through in the crazy soundscapes that invents. Sandy Dillon rivals that of Tom Waits or Johnny Dowd for twisted, fucked up, vocals and dark content. She comes across as a mentally derange psycho killer who gets caught up in the music and lets out all her screwed up ideas. The pair of musicians gets euphorically caught up in their creative process and that just pour over into the delivery. Zazou and Dillon have created a very dramatic album that is sure to find its way into many people’s hearts.
