Whistler is the project of former member of EMF, Ian Drench. He recruited vocalist Kerry Shaw and violinist James Topham. What they came up with is quite fresh and new. Mostly acoustic lazy and serene but still kicks in places. The track Rare American Shoes starts out with a jews harp and a tribal drum sound building up with the viola, guitar, and Kerry's vocals. Some tracks are spooky but most are a nice daydream soundtrack like a breeze through the trees. Very sparse but all instrumentation is used to full extent. A very beautiful album.
