Therapy? - So Much For The Ten Year Plan
Therapy? Have come a long way with their so called Ten Year plan. The Belfast, Ireland band started off with an almost industrial sound; coyly staying away from the breaking grunge sound. Their first major label album was Nurse which contained the aggressive “Teethgrinder (track 6 on this compilation) which was a direct anti-grunge song in a more formulaic industrial feel. Their next move was the totally addictive Troublegum. This time around Andy Cairns and his crew were about to embark on more of a very heavy pop journey. Songs on Troublegum were literally hummable with tracks like “Screamager and “Knives (which is sadly missing on Ten Year Plan) and my favorite, “Nowhere. This album got the band much recognition, to the brink of stardom. The equally brilliant Infernal Love followed the next year and then after a 3 year wait and a new line-up, Therapy? Returned with Semi-Detached. After label hunting in 1999 and settling on Ark 21, the band produced Suicide Pact: You First. You will find two new tracks done just for this retrospective: “Bad Karma (this one kicks ass) and “Fat Camp. Therapy is a band that has paid its dues and never received the respect that they deserve. This is a great album to add to any hard rock / metal collection.
