GRRRRRRRR! The new Soulfly kicks off with a killer track entitled "Back To The Primitive" which goes straight for the jugular and doesn't relent until your last breath has been expelled. Are you ready for the ride? After Max Cavalera's split from Sepultura and some self healing you might have thought this album might have been a little more accessible than 1998's sefl-titled debut. Not quite! This album pushes metal in some even heavier territory but also opening up to even more of Max's breakthrough Brazillian crossover. There are loads of guests artists and to the credit of the core band members the album is held together cohesively. Some of the artists include Sean Lennon (on a very cool track called "Son Song" which is a bit Alice In Chains-ish), Tom Araya (Slayer), Chino Moreno (Deftones), Corey (Slipknot) and Grady Avenell (Will Haven). Each song is very original and demands recognition for it's uniqueness. Max Cavalera is an angry individual and for his music's sake I hope and pray that he always maintains a least some of that.
