Le Duc - Celebration
Didier Mignot has been making electronica music in some form or another since the early 90’s and hasn’t looked back. He has released his first solo album under the name Le Duc entitled Celebration in France. He has seen several of the tracks end up on compilations and soundtracks. You will notice a similarity between Le Duc’s music and that of Banco de Gaia and State of Bengal. They all use similar world music elements in their music in order to make a very cinematic and grandiose mix of cultures. On Celebration, Le Duc has incorporated many different Eastern culture’s music and instruments into his beat driven music. He has become quite well versed at mixing elements of ambient dub and tribal house into a mix of ethnic music. It is a very entrancing mix and he really shines on most of the tracks. Some of the tracks are very fast paced and others are a bit slower which makes for a nice variety. I always cringe when I see another world / electronica album come in the mail but lately there have been a lot of great albums in the cross genre. Le Duc’s Celebration included.
