Melvins - The Crybaby
The Crybaby is the third and final volume in the Melvins little trilogy. When you start out an album with a cover of Nirvana's "Teen Spirit" with 70's teen idol Leif Garrett singing lead vocals you know your in for a ride. This is one of the bands most adventurous outings yet. With the help of an array of outside musicians like David Yow (Jesus Lizard), Henry Bogdan (Helmet), Hank Williams III, Mike Patton, Foetus, Tool, and many others the fly through 11 tracks. They variety of styles that the album goes through is great. The two covers ("Ramblin' Man" and "Okee From Muskogee") that they do with Hank Williams III and Henry Bogdan on steel guitar are true whisky soaked country. Then they turn around and do the sludgy "Mine is no disgrace" with Foetus. A very cool album.
