Ahh, good, old-fashioned cinematic metal. This bands name is very descriptive of its sound. It is a flashback for some of us old metalheads who used to listen to the likes of Manowar and Helloween. The weird thing about it is these guys are brand new. Yup, it’s their first album and they are actually all painted up in the King Diamond style make-up. The opening track, “The Quickening opens with the sound of far away thunder and then the double kick drum starts “Heart of Storm, the next track, off. In all reality, this type of metal should be completely cheesy in this day of the new metal like Tool and Deftones but there is room for this sort of fun too. Lost Horizon border a dark metal sound but they also have elements of classically trained musicians like Dream Theatre. Its not an album that I would run out and pay money for but if there are any fans of black metal or the old sound of Helloween and Manowar, you are sure to enjoy Awakening The World.
