Normally I wouldn’t post a review on a 5 song advance EP that is promo only but Gryp deserves a bit of press before their proper album hits the streets. Gryp is a 4-piece angry metal band out of Fresno, CA who is ready to take on the world with their upcoming self-titled album for the new W Recordings label. They borrow from a Korn school of metal where you can be all soft and gentle in one moment and then crush your listener with a proverbial ton of bricks. Curtis Shamlin has a great voice for this type of music and the band is as tight as any of the others on the scene right now. I’m not going to spoil this for you but I just wanted to let people know to watch for the full-length album that is supposed to hit the street in early 2002.
