This is actually the first that I have heard of this band but according to their bio Burn started out in 1988. They emerged from the NYC hardcore scene with a new unique sound that hadn’t been heard before. In 1991 they issued a self-titled EP on Revelation Records (soon to be re-issued). Then in 1994 Burn broke apart and vocalist Chaka Malik went on to form critically acclaimed Orange 9MM, guitarist Gavin Van Vlack went to Die 116 and Pry, and drummer Alan Cage went on to another critically acclaimed band Quicksand. 2001 comes along and they decided to bring the band back together and after hitting the studios they have come out with the brand new Cleanse EP. The music sounds a bit like Orange 9MM but it ends up being quite a bit harder and more hardcore influenced. The band is tight as hell as shown on the chunky “The Bait. Chaka Malik still keeps his unique vocals but the band shows younger hardcore bands exactly how to do it right. They mange to inject some melody here and there but for the most part Burn is all about heaviness.
