K-Rec - Disque Jockey
K-Rec is a spiting image of Fatboy Slim. He has a bit of an identity crisis because he tries to incorporate so many styles into his performances. Kent Stephany comes our way from Vancouver, BC rocking the funky beats with a hybrid of hip-hop and electronica. With only 23 years under his belt he really has his cut and paste style down pat. Delerium has employed K-Rec for help with their forthcoming album, which is quite an honor. The music on Disque Jockey is very interesting and diverse. Kent likes the music to be very immediate and in the listeners face. On tracks like “This is what’s happening there is a vocal that is basically the focal point of the song and he builds a heavy beat to support what he’s doing. It seems that he really wants to rock the party with songs that you just can’t sit still with. The hip-hop style vocal samples are the building blocks. His DJ skills really shine through with some stellar scratching and very cool sound collages. On “It’s The Party we find K-Rec lending his vocals to a hip-hop style track with a Grandmaster Flash ha-ha-ha ha-ha-ha rhythm. Disque Jockey will find it’s way into many people’s hearts.
