This is Wellwater Conspiracy's third album already (first for TVT). Why haven't you heard about them yet? You will wonder even more when I tell you who is in the band. Wellwater Conspiracy started off as a side project for Soundgarden guys, Ben Shepherd (although just a part time member now) and Matt Cameron (busy guy as he has been playing in Pearl Jam as of late) as well as ex-Monster Magnet guitarist, John McBain. This album features Eddie Vedder on "Felicity's Surprise", cleverly going as Wes C. Addle due to contractual obligations and ex-Soundgarden member Kim Thayil on "C, Myself, and Eye" and "The Scroll". Still scratching your head as to why this band is still in the underground? The band is into psychedelic music of the past but this time around the production is far superior to the last two albums. There are some tracks on here that are dead ringers for The Who songs. There are also ones that would sound at home in early Pink Floyd collections. You may remember a band from about 10 years ago called Hater. Well, that was an earlier incarnation of Wellwater Conspiracy. Wellwater is more creative and fun and really not taken that seriously. Hence, the band ends up being more relaxed and able to be their selves.
