Wayne - Music On Plastic
This is one of those bands that is going to create all sorts of confusion. Wayne is indeed Rodney Reaves who sings, writes the songs and plays guitar for the band. There is noone in the band named Wayne, the band coming from Birmingham, Alabama. Now that we have that sorted out, let’s get to the music. Coming from Alabama, one might expect a souther rock boogie style but that is nonexistant on Music On Plastic. Wayne’s music is very well written and even though it’s on TVT, which is usually noted for heavier releases. You will hear Rodney’s influences are totally divers, ranging from Brit pop to space rock. There is a very nice diversity on their debut; enough to keep casual fans completely interested throughout. There are songs like “Letterbox that could easily have been in the Beatles catalog. Wait around for the bonus track, it’s definitely worth the listen. Music On Plastic is a very strong debut showcasing Rodney Reaves’ strong songwriting and great musicianship.
