Now that another amazing Canadian band has lost its label support they have unfortunately folded as a group as well. I'm talking about Halifax's Killjoys ("Today I Hate Everything") who provided me with many a great live show at the Republik here in Calgary. While still trying to pick up the pieces, ex-Killjoys frontman, Mike Trebilcock has released a very personal solo album with a bit of a new direction for him. Although most of the tracks are fairly acoustic it seems as though Mike had a few Killjoys songs left in his head, like "Shut Us Up (And Make Us Smile)". He still not afraid to rock out. The album features Kim Deschamps from Blue Rodeo on a couple of tracks. It seems Mike is just trying to figure out where he fits in and what to do know. And in the meantime writing catchy tunes along the way.
