Yet another band that totally excapes a pigeon hole term. Trans Am pretty much define the term "experimental" with their crazy guitar rock mixed in with their space rock from way out there. Then you get tracks like "I'm Coming Down" that remind of Jesus And Mary Chain. Right after that is the lilting epic "The Dark Gift" that spans almost ten minutes and builds up to a cacophonous climax and works it's way back down. In the Trans Am Bio it says that the new album is "sonic development" and I really think that fits the bill here. Trans Am have always been inventing their own styles, not afraid to mix old with new and conventional with unconventional. One thing the band leans a bit more toward on Red Line is the use of vocals. Previously they were almost non-existant but here vocals are used on 7 tracks. This album will cure your boredom of today's music.
