And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead has made the step up to the major labels by way of Interscope records. This is the first taste I have had because their highly anticipated full-length isn’t scheduled for another couple of months. After the foursome from Planoe, Texas put out two very critically acclaimed albums, the first self-titled on Trance and the second Madonna on Merge, they were scooped up by Interscope. Believe it or not, Conrad, Neil and Jason all attended the same Sunday school whilst growing up and actually won a National Boys Choir Award in 1983 (Tuck that one away in your stupid things to know). They went on to do some archaeological work and came across the … And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead name in a Mayan textbook. This is where the name came from. Their music is very experimental and different on all levels. At times they have a lot in common with Sonic Youth while other times the fire on all cylinders and sound like At The Drive-in. Whichever style you enjoy you won’t get one without the other on any Trail Of Dead album. This is a great introduction into their major label world. Let’s hope the rest of their Interscope release is this interesting.
