Mike Ness - Under the Influences
Even though Mike Ness fronts the snarly Social Distortion his heart lies in the depths of true country and folk. Under the Influences is an album almost entirely made up of country cover songs. Somehow Mike seems right at home singing these rare classics even if there is a banjo being plucked in the background. Almost just to prove that his songwriting fits right beside all these other great classics he throughs in Social Distortions "Ball and Chain" at the end of the album. I think Mike has found a new home right beside all these classic artists like Bill Anderson, Hank Williams, Marty Robbins, and Carl Perkins. Yup, he actually pulls this one off without a hitch as it is quite enjoyable.
