Throttlerod is an aptly titled hard rock / metal band that really gets things going. The come to us by way of South Carolina and their aggressive sound is very reminiscent of Henry Rollins latest incarnation of his Rollins Band. The sound is thick and yet groovy with a bit of a Clutch feeling. Throttlerod’s riffs are a mile high and maintain a very crushing style of in your face style playing. Throttlerod seems to build on a single riff until it actually overtakes your aural senses. As with most rock like this the lyrics are almost not even essential. You just catch the groove and go with it. The sound is bottom heavy but it reeks of style. The vocals are rough and worn like the singer has been drinking Jack Daniels for way too long but they really suit the sound that Throttlerod is trying to get across. It may take some time and some touring but Throttlerod is bound to make a splash in the Southern Boogie rock or stoner rock world.
