I don’t know much about Sutrobath but I do know that it is basically a duo comprised of Michael Soiseth and Robert Wollam. I will assume that the band comes from either Oregon or Washington because the album was recorded in Olympia and Grants Pass. The music on Aquatica is very original and invigorating. Soiseth and Wollam are very good songwriters and work hard at not sounding the same as every other guitar band out. Their music is quite epic at times and then just a whisper at others. There is much thought put into the arrangements that splatter Aquatica. Speaking of Aquatica, it is a perfect name for the band as the vocals kind of come in and out of the mix like waves. They kind of remind me of Canadian band Moist but not near as whiney. At times the brilliance Sutrobath exhibits is quite overwhelming. There are a few tracks that maybe should have been left off of Aquatica to shorten it up a bit but overall, Sutrobath have create a very fine indie release.
