RecommendThis band took me completely by surprise. It was one of those discs that I had no preconceived notions on what would result. Stereobate is a band that follows the Slint school of thought with their music; totally melodic and yet extremely noisy as well. The Music on Selling Out In The Silent Era is some of the best, shall we say, Post-Rock to come out in the last couple of years. 4 out of the 9 tracks are moody instrumentals and they take you on a mean trip that covers all post-rock styles. Stereobate can easily shift gears from a melodic little guitar riff to the most abrasive sounds you can imagine. Although not that original in lyrics, the track “When Radio Came� is one of my favorites with its shifts from whispers to screams. This is a band that we will be seeing a lot more of in the future.
