Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".

Today I listened to the latest CD from New York based E.G. Holmes who just released his latest CD entitled: "Wonderful You" in 2012. Venturing to his website and reading his bio I get the impression this is one artist that is extremely determined and passionate about the songwriting craft. Not only did Holmes write all the songs on this CD, he went out an got a full band and an amazing singer named David Vanden Enden. From start to finish "Wonderful you" delivers and is a very entertaining musical experience. It has a very warm and inviting Pop-Rock quality to it, and even dabbles in Orchestral Jazz. It also reminds me of Brian Setzer Orchestra, Josh Groban, and Harry Connick Jr and Michael Buble. Any fans of any of these musical styles of these artists will enjoy this latest 10 track release from Holmes. It's clearly marketed for those who like a male vocal front . I get the impression Holmes is letting it all hang out via this compelling 10 track line up. In other words Holmes/Enden hit the mark remarkably well by just by being who they are musically. Favorite tracks include (The Rumors) and (Hot Blooded 4 U). All songs strike the perfect balance between rock, orchestral jazz, and hooky pop. The songwriting is impressive and digs a bit deeper than the next independent artist. Within each one of these pieces Holmes and Enden bare their soul and delivers what I would call pure musical mojo. It offers much in the way of passion and compelling-thought provoking lyrical content. The playing from Holmes and the actual band is spot on and just makes the whole CD even more enjoyable. Holmes is no slouch on the Piano. The overall vibe of the production is very uplifting and cheerful with pockets of hope shining through.

I see E.G. Holmes as a diamond in the rough, with an amazing amount of potential as a composer and arranger. As time goes by he will no doubt hear more from him - in a behind the scenes sort of way. That's the reality path of a songwriter. Holmes is a lucrative music licensing contract waiting to happen. I also would be surprised to hear his music on Prime Time Radio someday or even in a film within the detailed liner notes. In close most famous artists out there have "it" I'm not so sure what "it" but E.G. Holmes has whatever "it" is.
