Spoon - Girls Can Tell
The highly underapreciated Spoon is back and with the backing of Merge. Their new album is entitled Girls Can Tell and is, by far, their best yet. I used to think that Spoon had hit their peak with their 1998 Elektra album A Series Of Sneaks but they proved me wrong. Spoon take everything good about the Pixies and make it all their own by adding some of the catchiest melodies ever contrived. They play clean honest punk-pop like nobodies business. Even though they were dropped by Elektra you can bet that someone got fired over that move when the execs hear this one. Spoon is not discouraged easily.
