I bought this cd after viewing some reviews and decided to give it a try. What a fantastic album this is. Diego Marchesi is absolutely mindblowing, his timbre and phrasing are unique, and he employs so many different singing styles. The songs are also imbued with stunning keyboard and piano work thanks to Cristian Della Polla. He is very important to these songs. He is the master of atmosphere, as he achieves an impossible balance between melodic patches and more daring, somewhat OSI-like experiments. Guitarist Diego Cafolla focuses only on his lead work providing some back-ups only when necessary. Cafolla's playing involves stomping riffs as well as fluid, liquidy guitar phrases. His playing shines on "Islands" during the folky acoustic coda supporting the other guitarist Ivan Nastasi over a deeply droning bass figure. He recalls David Gilmour in that his playing unfolds slowly, allowing each note to stretch as long as possible. On "Fading Out Pt. III," they build a rhythm groove with Entropia-like bass, extended instrumental passages, acoustic guitars, and stop-start vocals. It concludes with this huge, synth build-up amidst intense percussion and thick guitar chords. And the transition into the album's final song is musical perfection. The production is first class: the instrument clarity, the acoustic strings, the vocal nuances, the atmosphere -- everything is warm and audible. Not a single note goes by unheard. Kingcrow's Phlegethon stands out. Don't make the same mistake I did -- if you're a fan of this genre, you need this album. Pick it up.
