Bill Mallonee and Vigilantes of Love was recommended to me by a good friend and I was very impressed with Audible Sigh. This is an album that teeters on folk and keeps one foot in country. Bill and company end up using their share of country guest artists as well. Emmylou Harris makes a beautiful appearance on “Resplendent. Julie Miller is caught singing on “She Walks on Roses, “Starry Eyed, and the bittersweet “Nothing Like A Train. Julie’s husband Buddy is all over the album playing and singing throughout as well as production duties. Bill is an accomplished songwriter who will one day find some well deserved acclaim sooner than later. Mallonee wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t afraid to sing about it. The complaint that fans seem to have is that the band just puts out too much material. Maybe Bill and his Vigilantes should take more care in their song selection and a bit more thought into their arrangements. Audible Sigh is still a very fine album.
