I finally fell into buying this album after I had heard that it was nominated for a Best Alternative Album Grammy. While I think that Behind The Music is a very decent and apt album, I do think there are others that could have taken their slot but am happy that a band not on the top of the charts is sitting there. The album starts out super strong with “Infra Riot and follows right up with the big single “Sister Surround. These Swedish boys seem to reach back in a retro haze to come up with their sound but despite that, they do sound fairly original. “Tonight is a piano centric ballad that seems to work very well. Another very fine ballad is the sweeping “In Your Veins. Then they almost reach into an Americana style for “Ten Years Ahead, which comes off like a Cracker song. The one thing that Soundtrack Of Our Lives is consistent with is that it’s diverse. The do ballads, country tracks, full-on rockers and power-pop. A lot of Syd Barrett style is on Behind The Music but ultimately, Soundtrack of Our Lives is an original group that is a very talented bunch of musicians and have created a very fine album.
