Martina Sorbara is a new Canadian talent gaining much recognition and about to gain a bunch more with the release of her debut album The Cure For Bad Deeds. When you listen to her you will instantly think you have heard her before with her Tori Amos / Jewel voice and her jazzy pop sound. It is true that she sounds like the aformentioned artists but you must hear her all the same. Her songs are very well crafted and her heart is as big as the piano she plays. She not only plays piano but alternates between that and guitar. She has been on the Toronto scene for a few years now but with her Nettwerk record deal newly signed she is about to make a splash into a larger market. Is there room for another female singer / songwriter? When they have as much talent as Martina then the answer has to be yes. Her songs are full of emotion and some are fairly upbeat. The way Sorbara mixes styles into her own shows her unending talent. I predict that if Martina Sorbara is picked up by radio then the sky is the limit for this singer songwriter.
