In the history of Canadian music, no band was more sadly overlooked than Vancouver’s own Sons of Freedom. Releasing a mere three albums, they were subsequently dropped from every label they were on. Their self-titled debut was one of the most sonicly sound albums to ever hit. Slash Records knew what they heard but for some reason the radio stations weren’t ready for the pummelling rhythm section that the Sons had. With the rhythmically intense lead off track “Super Cool Wagon�, people might have been scared away. It’s too bad because the albums best track (and best charting single from the album) “The Criminal� is next. Jim Newton’s vocals aren’t all that exciting but it totally suits the bands music. Sons of Freedom is a band all about beat and getting your head bobbing. Their bark is worse than their bite too. They have songs called “Dead Dog on the Highway� and “Fuck The System� making them to sound like bad asses but truth is they are just killer musicians. Pick this one up if you find it. It's been deleted for quite some time.
