Dan Israel is back with his gang he calls the Cultivators. Dan is someone who believes in the spirit of independent music and has done pretty much all his releases on his own with much critical acclaim. Love Ain’t A Cliché should provide even more with his style of singing and impressive songwriting. He sounds a bit like Elvis Costello and a bit like Jakob Dylan of the Wallflowers. Dan and his group start with a pop sound and infuse country and folk influences into it to come up with a very appealing and easy to listen to sound. Some tracks are more pop than others and some are more country than others. One thing consistent throughout the album is Israel’s great voice. Dan states that he “wanted to make a record that I truly enjoyed listening to. I didn’t want it to be boring, so I kept the pop element real out front. It was successful because Love Ain’t A Cliché is a real winner and should win over many more fans. If any of this sounds at all intriguing to you then seek out this album.
