This DC area band has proven that asking them to be your opening act will ensure your commercial success. Why would Smartbomb make this statement? Here’s the list of bands that Smartbomb has opened for before their international stardom: Matchbox 20, Fuel, Smashmouth, and Our Lady Peace. If they’re not careful, Smartbomb may end up on that list too. On Yeah Well Anyway, the band proves their smart pop writing and powerful arrangements are ready for the big time. The album has a tight feel and every track is equally addictive. They employed two very established producers, Lou Giordano and Paul David Hager, to help with their crisp and defined power pop sounds. One strange track that is on here is a cover of Faith Hill’s “Breathe. Apparently one of the members was playing along with the song on TV and then the rest of the band jumped in at 40 beats faster than the real song. It was Paul David Hager’s idea to include the track on the album. In actual fact, song after song on the album is extremely catchy and could easily end up on the radio. Smartbomb will appeal to anyone interested in power pop bands like the Goo Goo Dolls or a heavier Gin Blossoms. This is a band just waiting to go off.
