The story that came with this CD seems a bit odd at best. The Have Nots are supposedly a unknown band that left behind a mysterious recording of superb country music. The thing that leads to my disbelief is the statement "Some believe it [the recording sessions] to have been the late 1950's, while others insist that the recordings were made as late as 1999." Whatever way you take it the band plays some of the hottest country music ever unearthed. This brand of honky tonking country hasn't been played this well since the Blue Shadows. Some tracks like "Fancy Meeting You Here" even recall the Beach Boys style of romantic pop. Complete with great country titles like "Best Mistake (I'd ever make again)", would the real Havenots please present themselves so we can congratulate them on a fine release, be it ancient or not.
