Quirky new wave band Devo has long mocked society and pop culture in a vague, sarcastic, surreal way, compelling audiences with their weirdness while obfuscating any serious viewpoints they might have. The tables have turned with their soon-to-be-released single, "Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus)," a solemn ballad honoring Mitt Romney's dog, a whippet who rode on the top of a car back in 1983. They already released a song about this dog back in 1980, but it was too abstract and portentous, so they're now going for a more obvious approach.

Though the whippet is sadly no longer with us, we can remember him and all dogs on August 26th, also known as National Dog Day. On this day, pet parents eat hot dogs and listen to "Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus)" on a loop (the single will be released by the Orchard on August 25th).

National Dog Day is a celebration of all dogs and dog owners, and is not politically motivated in nature, or limited to Romney/Mormon haters. Look out for the sister song "Please Don't Eat Me, Barry! (A Plea from Bo)," currently in post production.
