Skindive are a new Irish band that seem set to conquer the world with their debut album. Gerry Owens is Skindive's principle songwriter as well as guitarist and occasional vocalist but it's the vocal talents of Danielle Harrison that pull everything together. She sits somewhere between PJ Harvey and Shirley Manson of Garbage with her very diverse singing. The album also contains many brass and string arrangments which adds to the complexity of the album. Skindive vary from mellow songs such as the soothing but dark "Space Age Lullaby" that is gentle but has a hard edge to it through Nine Inch Nails like programming, to heavily dance influenced "Sweetness" which also has some heavy programming involved. The album proves to be a worthy debut fro Skindive that has the potential to take on hordes of new listeners outside of their home country of Ireland.
