It's amazing how we carry certain biases that peek out just by looking at the title of a band, The Como Brothers Band. I am no better and guiltily admit to doing just that. Brother bands in general make me think of The Jonas Brothers, The Jackson 5, Oasis (they count, sort of), The Osmond Brothers, Hanson and even The Naked Brothers band (Nickelodeon shout-out, anyone?). Along with images of potentially matching costumes come other images of torn out photos from the latest teen or music mags which will be plastered to walls, kissed and worshipped in tween/ teen girl bedrooms across America.
Steadily building their momentum for a break out year, it was capped off by a cute video of their parents surprising them to announce they'd been selected to play the Vans Warped Tour in their native Long (or Lawng if you pronounce it correctly) Island recently, along with having a song appear on MTV's Real World soon. It's clear the brothers Como plus Dorian Costanzo's flight path seems to rise with each passing day.
Releasing their EP, The Speed of Sound" earlier in 2012, your ears will be greeted with a nice blend of Sublime and Sum-41 sounding alternative/pop/rock with tinges of ska plus some retro 70's Eagles and Pink Floyd to produce an interesting sound. If the aforementioned teen girls who love sensitive rocker boys haven't already come running, they will after hearing "Underneath It All". Breaking up the rock and showing some retro variety, they added a Steely Dan-sounding bluesy pop tune to the mix in "You Are My World". Enjoyed that the third song, " I Don't Like You", features a rap bridge in the middle, and the video for this impressively has almost 800Ks views on YouTube. On the last track, "Can I Be Matched With You?", you find a swoon-worthy, catchy pop song with dope guitar riffs, tailor-made for summer radio. I expect this trio to be "matched with" success and a legion of females fighting over who is their fav in the near future.
