The impact of this album wasn't realized upon release as initial sales were only around 40,000. With this album, though, they created a very loyal following. It all started with Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman joining the Byrds. After the steered the Byrds towards the country side with Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Parsons and Hillman decided to start their own band. They attracted much attention and fans including Bob Dylan and Keith Richards. After this album was complete Gram lost interest with the band but still managed to put out an unfocused second album Burrito Deluxe. He then went on to his solo career. This album features such classics as "She", "Jaunita", and "Sin City". Gram was now the father of what is now known as country-rock or No Depression.
