Alejandro Escovedo is now a regular staple in the Austin music scene and with his new album, A Man Under The Influence, he has proven his mastery at songwriting. This is the second album on the Bloodshot label and his finest moment yet. If you haven't witnessed Alejandro's mighty songwriting that, at times, rocks hard and others ache with loneliness and pain, then this will be an awesome starting point. He has the charisma of Greg from Blue Rodeo but his songwriting is so much better. On the albums closing track "About This Love"? you can't help but feel for the poor guy with the biggest heartbreak you could imagine. Label-mate Ryan Adams lends a hand on a couple tracks backing Escovedo. There are many other big names helping out too like Mac and John from Superchunk as well as Chris Phillips from the Backsliders.
