Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".
Today I listened to the latest EP from Nashville based Christian rock band Cooper The Band (Kings) released in 2012 headed up by Cooper Brown. The new the album Kings focuses on telling the life of David from the Bible in a very creative and modern way.. Venturing to his website it is a very professional presentation indicating this is their debut release. From start to finish this EP from Cooper the Band is a very pleasurable musical experience. It has a very College Rock quality to it and even dabbles in Folksy-Pop to traditional Alternative Folk. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release from Cooper the Band. It's clearly marketed for those who like a male front reminiscent of cited indluences: Mumford and Sons. Gungor and Arcade Fire. Additional vocals from Kendall Young hit the mark perfectly and add more vocal variety to the table. I get the impression Brown/Young are rolling with what they knows as a performer and songwriters. Favorite tracks include Track 1 (Something Less), Track 2 (Find Your Own Way Home) and Track 5 (Stay , Don't Go).All pieces have an amazing feel. Within each one of these compositions Brown and company bare their soul and deliver their best musical mojo. The rest of the band is spot on and just makes the whole CD even more enjoyable with much in the way of Celtic/Folk instrumentation: All in all one of the best EP's I've heard this year.
I see Cooper the Band as a strong up and coming band. As time goes by he will no doubt refine and fine-tune their overall sound and musical personality. I am eager to hear what his next release will sound like. In close most famous artists out there have "it" I'm not so sure what it but Cooper the Band definitely has whatever "it" may be.
