This album came highly recommended to me so my expectations were very high. You should never walk into listening to any album with high expectations because you will ultimately be let down. I was with Stankonia. First listen I was thinking that yes these cats new how to mix beats but I failed to see the charm to it. It was only on the second listen that my disappointment was remedied. OutKast is pushing the limits of hip-hop with this album. They push so far that it's hard to see at first. The beats that they use really take a couple listens in order to appreciate and the rhymes are so smooth that you know that they are natural. According to the band, Stankonia is "a place from which all funky things come". Sounds like Parliament, doesn't it. You still have to wonder about the bands respect when they do tracks like "We Luv Deez Hoez" and "Ms. Jackson" but when you sit back to listen to the way the tracks are put together you have to be impressed.
