Not as much a musician as a poet, Jim Christy has made his name being a Poet, novelist, journalist, sculptor and world adventurer. In fact all the music that was written for a Night In Grombalia was done by the musicians that Jim chose to play along with his poetry. Does it work? Hell yeah. This collection of songs will fit great next to your Tom Waits collection or Johnny Dowd discs even though Jim Christy never sings. Yeah, this is beat poetry for the new millenium and it’s perfect for those late night drives. Jim seems to have a gloomy outlook on life but that is true of all poets. The thing with Jim is that the outcome seems to be positive. Some of the brilliant track titles are “1000 Motels and a Pensacola Ashtray and “There Are No Sufis in South Philadelphia. Open your mind as you turn on your stereo. Jim Christy has a lot to say and for a lot of us A Night In Grombalia is the only place we will ever hear Jim.
