Tulsa, Oklahoma native, Charlie Hill has recently released his debut, The Landing, a contemporary instrumental album. Recalling the playing of 70's folk acoustic greats like James Taylor and the Eagles, this album would make a great cross-country trek soundtrack, traveling through the rural heartland, miles and miles to go, with the wind in your hair. A master composer and fingerstyle guitarist, Charlie sets the laidback, placid mood, also making this an ideal album to put on after a long day to unwind and relax.
An avid animal lover, the album begins with "Dogs in Paradise",that paints a peaceful island scene with light percussion accompanying the strumming, as Charlie "visualized dogs in their own eternal paradise". He proves sometimes all you need is a guitar in the basic form to translate emotion, making the listener want to grab a fiddle and join in on "Polaris Pass", which has a bluegrass feel. "Simple Song", the only track featuring Charlie singing and playing the harp guitar, has lyrics like "a couple of friends and this old guitar is all I really need", explaining his basic needs and how he plans to spend the rest of his days, dropping simply profound pearls of wisdom. Overall, "The Landing" provides the listener enjoyable soothing soul-bearing instrumental lullabies.
