Del Shannon's falsetto voice was a distinctive feature of his music. Back in the day, when this came out, it must have seemed pretty revolutionary. Remember, this was before the Beatles. A song about lost love, on the face of it, it is not much different from a thousand and one other songs about the same subject. But apart from Shannon's voice, what makes this is the keyboard, a strange thing called a musitron which Shannon co-invented. The musitron provides that distinctive sound which, combined with the vocals, makes the song. A pity then that the B-Side is a bog standard ballad with few redeeming qualities.
