One of those tracks on which Phil Spector reached the apogee of his creativity. Not only did he produce this, with the classic wall of sound, but he even co-wrote it. These days, "Then He Kissed Me" may seem a little sentimental, even melodramatic - after all, not many ballads end with the guy asking her to be his bride - but this was the early sixties. Of course, you could always update it to the present by reinterpreting the lyrics -"He kissed me in a way that I've never been kissed before." Quite.
But the song, the vocals, the music, the production - it is not hard to see why this was and remains a classic.
