Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".

Today I listened to the latest 3 song EP from North Carolina based 4 piece Will McBride Group (3PLAY - 2012). Venturing to their website and reading their bio I get the impression this is one band that's extremely dedicated and passionate about their songwriting craft. From start to finish this 3 song EP from McBride and company is a very entertaining and pleasurable musical experience and is comparable to a breath of fresh air. It has an undeniable Classic Rock, R&B quality to it but even dabbles in hooky Pop-Jazz-Fusion. Any fans of any of these musical styles will no doubt enjoy this latest release from McBride and company. It's clearly marketed for those who like their lyrics served up hot with a side of satire. Musical parallels for me are Steely Dan, Donald Fagan, and The Doobie Brothers. I get the impression McBride is rolling with what he knows as a performers within all these songs. In other words he hits the mark remarkably well by just being himself. Favorite track is hands down (Mental Health Day). All songs possess amazing feel and the songwriting craft digs a bit deeper than the next Independent Artist. Within each one of these songs McBride finds his soul and delivers pure musical mojo. His band is spot on and just makes the whole EP even more enjoyable.

I see Will McBride as a diamond in the rough or undiscovered gem. I am eager to hear what the full length release will sound like. In close most famous artists out there have "it" Im not so sure what it but let me go on record and say the Will McBride Group have whatever "it" may be.
