Back in 1985, four Vancouverites got together and formed a band. Later that year they issued an EP and then disappeared. The sole result of Brilliant Orange's brief career is the "Happy Man" EP. Glorious jangle pop with a hint of Americana, it was not that much different from a slew of similar guitar-driven bands of the era. What was different was that Brilliant Orange were not UK based.
"Happy Man" was a fine song and the EP made it into the local charts, but the band's career never got any further, despite being signed to the Zulu label, who re-issued the EP. A shame then, and another band who passed in to jangle pop obscurity.
