Jangle pop bands had some pretty ridiculous names. 14 Iced Bears almost topped the lot, but that honour goes to Australian duo The Fish John West Reject. Daft name or not, this single was a jangle pop classic in its time, issued by the legendary Sarah Records. The A-Side is not the best, a bit plodding perhaps, but the B-Side is magnificent. What stands out is the really melodic bass line on both sides something which was sometimes lacking in the hit and hope world of Sarah Records. 14 Iced Bears were at the loud, dare I say heavier end of jangle pop. This may not appeal to all fans of the genre, especially the more hardcore anoraks, but it was and remains a fine song.
