What’s Cub Country all about? You have probably heard of the artists that are involved with this little alt-country band but were wondering if they could actually pull it off. Some of the bands that these guys are involved with are Jets To Brazil, Euphone, Lunachicks, Rival Schools, Helmet, and Orange 9mm. Sounds like you would expect more of a post-hardcore type band rather than a crooning Whiskeytown styled band. Do they do it well? Let’s put it this way, they do it convincingly. Cub Country will obviously not be these guys main past time. They are meant to be playing heavier stuff and you can tell that at moments. Lead Cub, Jeremy Chatelain (Jets to Brazil) has a hard time holding these guys back at times. Although they have done a very decent job songwriting, they don’t hit on every track. If you are a Jets To Brazil fan and are just curious then you might be better off moving along. If you are interested in the alt-country world of the Tyde and Beachwood Sparks then Cub Country is a great companion piece. I applaud Jeremy for trying something new and different.

Mr. Jeremy Chatelain is at the forefront of the alt-country sound with this album. It's is very simple and catchy, nothing too spectacular about it, but the songs are strong enough to stand on their own... and thats why High Uinta High is an amazing album. Some songs have a depth for show, and others have nothing at all. This is the balance that works in his favor. A must have.
