Kirk Swan and Seth Tiven were two Massachussettians (?) who formed the core of Dumptruck. The drummer and bassist changed with monotonous regularity. Very much in the southern alternative scene, the band delivered a jangle pop reminiscent of early REM and Guadalcanal Diary.
Tiven's vocals were something of an acquired taste, but the band's best output was undoubtedly on this single, highlighted by "Going Nowhere". The lyrics were bittersweet with more than hint of melancholy about them. The rhythm section was at its tightest and the melody is strong. Shortly after its release, Swan left the band and Dumptruck faded into obscurity, hastened by contractual wrangles with their record label, though they have since resolved those issues and reformed.
