as a sidenote, Faster Pussycat did a great cover of Oasis' song "wonderwall". In fact, I think they did a great version. I heard it on an album called 80's sleeze rock. I think "sleeze rock" should be a category, beucase Faster Pussycat definately falls into this category with album titles such as "Front Row for the Donkey Show", "The power and the glory hole" and "between the valley of the Ultra Pussy."
All the more reason to love a band with 6 albums total, 3 of them being "greatest hits" and a live album. To their credit, "Front Row for the Donkey Show" is an outstanding live album.

Taime Downe's vocals on this album are just plain raw. I love his voice. Greg Steele and Brent Muscat do incredible jobs on the guitar. It's almost like they can read each other's minds. I could totally argue the fact that this band, while on the Sunset strip scene inspired the bluesy guitar heard on GNR's later albums, though I think Slash and every Gun's fan might tell me to fuck off, I'd gladly stand my ground.
I love the song "Babylon". Rap was big in the 80's, and scratching was huge. The fact that they took the time to scratch on this record just adds to the diversity that defines Faster Pussycat. Lipstick Junkies and Runaways just tell the 80's story of hair metal. Smash alley just tells the brutal truth about what Hollywood can do to a person. Say adios to your mama if you're gonna hang out there.
I think the band made a huge mistake firing drummer Mark Michals after completing the "wake me when it's over" album. Apparently the band was touring for the album in 1990, and Mark was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska for trying to mail heroin to his hotel room. That explains why "whipped" was just a horrid piece of shit album. I'd review it, but it was such a dissapointment I don't want to ruin my night listening to it. I can understand firing your drummer for being an idiot, GNR fired Steven Adler for drug use, but at least they found a decent replacement.
I didn't see Faster Pussycat Tour in the 90's, but I've seen Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot play, and he kicks ass. He apparently filled in as drummer for the remainder of the tour. Faster Pussycat should have invited him to stick with them, because the band went downhill when Brett Bradshaw became Faster Pussycat's new long-term drummer. He sucked. In my opinion he ruined the band.
I love this album as much as I love Soundgarden's Louder than Love album. It's a group that starts running and just won't stop. You don't want to stop listening to it.
I didn't own this album on cassette, but I still listen to it. If my ship were to roll in I'd have a cassette player with "Wake me when it's over" and this album. These are two must hear albums for anyone. I think their blues riffs put Poison's blues riffs to shame. I am of the opinion that Faster Pussycat is a very under-rated band. They deserve more credit than they get. "A bottle in front of me is like a frontal lobotomy, one more swig will alter my psychology"....the vocals on bottle in front of me are just plain "raw". I'm going to go buy me a case of tylenol. I love the first 2 albums this band put out.
