The film to which the title of this song relates was one of the late great Audrey Hepburn's finest moments. Deep Blue Something therefore took a bit of a risk when they decided to entitle a song after the film. As a result, this is a song which dares, nay commands you to loathe and detest it with an abiding passion. The trouble is, you can't.
I know, it is trite and silly, and the whiny-arsed vocalist seems to think that the fact he and the girl both rather liked the film is the best reason why she shouldn't dump him, but there is something (distressingly) naively charming about it. Call it a guilty pleasure if you like, but I always smile and sing along quietly to myself whenever I hear it, and then dream of Audrey's beautiful smile peeking out from under Holly Golightly's wide brimmed hat.
