Hmm, this disc looks interesting. I threw this disc on without even really thinking about it and before I knew it I was thinking “Jeez, these guys sound a lot like the Skydiggers. I listened on and then I came to recognize Mr. Andrew Cash’s voice. Then I made the connection. It was Peter Cash of the Skydiggers fame and his brother Andrew. It took me a while and if you knew better you can laugh at me. Anyway, what we have here on How Was Tomorrow is an amazing collection of roots rock very similar to Skydiggers. It is very strange that we haven’t seen any collaboration of the brothers previous to this but they had had their separate careers to be concerned with. With time on their hands this is the end result. Their vocal harmonies rival the best of Louris and Olsen of early Jayhawks and they songwriting is some of the top writing to ever come out of Canada. Yes, they’re that good! They pay tribute to one of their favorite songwriters with the track “Nebraska repeating the refrain “I’m just driving around listening to Nebraska. There is some very cool Americana guitar playing on How Was Tomorrow that the Cash Brothers trade off on. They get some help from the likes of Canadian poster boy, Hawksley Workman and Josh Freese. I’m writing a song right now called “Driving around listening to ‘How Was Tomorrow’.
