Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".
Today I listened to the latest CD from Illinois based Scarlet Monk entitled (Anna Bella) released by Global Vortex (2011). Venturing to her website it's a very professional presentation. From start to finish this CD from Scarlet Monk just flow across the ears and is s very pleasurable experience. It has a very soothing Hip Hop quality to it with a side ot Trip Hop and Pop. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release no doubt. It's clearly marketed for those who like a female fronted singer with a mystique of say a Boyonce, Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey. Scarlet Monk is armed with many impressive attributes voice, look and persona. Favorite tracks include Track 1 (Ring) and Track 2 (De-Stress). All pieces have amazing feel. Within each one of these compositions Scarlet Monk finds her soul and delivers her best musical mojo. Her band and the sampling touches are spot on and just make the whole CD more enjoyable. The overall vibe is trippy and mysterious, yet very seductive. There are a few pin drop moments as well. Scarlet Monk is not afraid of baring her soul so to speak to the world - this music should be considered pure gold in that respect. All song are very honest and passionate.
I see Scarlet Monk as an undiscovered diamond in the rough. As time goes by she will no doubt refine and fine-tune her sound. I am eager to hear what her next release will sound like. In close most famous artists out there have "it" I'm not so sure what it but Scarlet Monk has whatever "it" may be.
